JULY 2008-

In the spring & summer of 2008, I completed the biggest (so far!) job of my career.  The Peppermill Resort Casino Reno wass in the process of doing a major facelift that includes a new pool and spa area.  It was pretty exciting because there really was nothing like it in Northern Nevada.  The project consisted of a mosaic mural at the bottom of the two new swimming pools.  Together it was over 1200sf of 5/8" Sicis tile, assembled to look like flowers and vines.  The design was already decided upon before I was hired, but it was up to me to make it come alive with the colors and shading.  I was able to do all of the assembly onto mesh in my studio and their people installed it on site.  In typical casino fashion, I was hired, finished the project and people were swimming over the flowers in less than a month for each pool!  The pictures show my crew and me working on sections of the mural. Each section was assembled on 4'x8' pieces of plywood with the first pool requiring 23 boards and the second 48!  The finished project looks amazing and you can see it from ground level, but it's best viewed from several stories up.

The First Pool

This shot of the first pool was taken by my friend Frank Haxton.  He happened to be doing a shoot on the roof the day that they were installing.  You can get an idea of scale by looking at the three installers working on the scroll to the right.

This shot of the first pool is taken
from the elevator lobby about 7 stories up.

Here's a great shot that Peppermill Photographer
Joe Kukler took of the newly renovated pool area.
